Difference between walking, jogging and running

[1]

Which do I like better

  • I prefer to walk than to jog or run because "the impact with the ground is greater in jogging and running"[2].

Defining Walking, Jogging, and Running

          Walking

  • According to Dictionary.Reference.com, to walk is to "move by advancing the feet alternately so that there is always one foot on the ground in bipedal locomotion." [3]

          Jogging

  • Also, they state to jog is "to run at a leisurely, slow pace." [4]

           Running

  • Then to run is "to go quickly by moving the legs more rapidly than at a walk and in such a manner that for an instant in each step... both feet are off the ground." [5]

Comparing Walking, Jogging, and Running

          Speed

  • Since every person is different, so is the way one walks, jogs, and runs. One person's normal walk can be another person's speed walk and the same with jogging and running.

          Time

  • Walking takes more time than jogging and the same of jogging versus running. You burn the same amount of calories when you walk a certain distance as you who if you ran that distance.
