Physical Activity Continuum

Three activities on the continuum

 1. Walking ( Low intensity)

 2. Jogging ( Medium intensity)

 3. Running ( High Intensity)

 

Walking

  • Anyone can do it
  • Very little stress on joints
  • Still provides excercise
  • Reduce your risk of a heart attack
  • For weight loss and general health, the US Surgeon General recommends: "Be physically active for at least 30 minutes (adults) or 60 minutes (children) on most days of the week." [1]

Jogging

  • More intense of a workout than Walking
  • Provides Cardiorespiratory fitness which is "the ability of your heart to pump stronger and more efficiently and your muscles to use oxygen more efficiently. "[3]
  • Is a healthy hobby that can be done throughout a persons lifetime

 

                         Mountain Running

Running

  • The most intense form of physical activity     
  • Helps in lowering blood pressure
  • Can improve bone health
  • "runners typically report being happier and feeling less stressed than their counterparts who do not run or exercise regularly"[5]

Zack, perhaps you can find a video on jogging, trailrunning or mountain running or add something extra to this page to complete the assignment. Great editing!
